Our Programs & Services
What we do
Women Illawarra assists women and children who may be affected by domestic violence, isolation, marginalisation, disadvantage and a range of issues that prevent them from participating fully in the broader community.

Support
We focus on the fundamental needs of women. Across all our programs and services, we are here to be a strong voice for women. Our aim is to have significant and enduring impacts on the issues affecting women of the Illawarra across all political, economic, and social institutions.
Empowerment
Women Illawarra promotes and supports women towards self determination and empowerment by providing opportunities that facilitate knowledge, skills and personal growth. We believe that every woman is the expert in her life and we are committed to providing a safe place for personal, social and professional development.
Connection
Many women are experiencing social isolation, discrimination and disconnection within our society. We recognise connection and collaboration as key principles to the health and wellbeing of women and our community. Our services and programs seek to create lasting and meaningful connections for all women in the Illawarra.
Founded on feminist principles in 1979, Women Illawarra - previously Wollongong Women’s Information Service - has been at the forefront of many campaigns for women’s issues. We were instrumental in the foundation of many women’s services in the Illawarra, including women’s health, housing and domestic violence services.
Supporting women and girls towards self-determination and the experience of increased safety, respect and inclusivity.
